Roadway, shoulder, guardrail, and trail improvements connecting Lorton Road, Laurel Hill, Giles Run Park, and the Laurel Hill Adaptive Reuse area.
The Snowden Ashford Walkway & Roadway Improvements project will upgrade the existing two-lane access road while adding a new eight-foot-wide asphalt trail along the east side of Snowden Ashford Road.
The trail will provide an approximately 1,500-foot connection between Lorton Road and the Laurel Hill Adaptive Reuse area / Giles Run Park access area.
Snowden Ashford Road in the Laurel Hill / Lorton area, connecting Lorton Road with the Laurel Hill Adaptive Reuse area and Giles Run Park access corridor.
The project improves access, safety, and multimodal connectivity while preserving the rural character of Snowden Ashford Road. It supports park access, walking and biking connections, and safer movement through the Laurel Hill area.
The project is intended to maintain one lane of traffic during construction. After construction is completed, roadway maintenance is expected to be transferred to VDOT.
