A working charter for the mission, scope, standards, and stewardship of the TranspoFairfax transportation knowledge base.
TranspoFairfax exists to make transportation information easier to find, understand, preserve, and connect for residents, civic groups, agencies, public officials, and future community leaders.
TranspoFairfax focuses on transportation projects, corridors, communities, agencies, funding, documents, meetings, timelines, issues, archives, and future civic technology tools.
TranspoFairfax is intended as an independent information resource. It may describe community concerns, agency actions, public questions, and project impacts, but it should strive to distinguish information from advocacy.
Project information should be connected whenever possible to public records, agency websites, meeting presentations, reports, maps, funding documents, correspondence, or other supporting materials.
Community members may help identify missing projects, broken links, safety concerns, historical context, meeting summaries, and recurring transportation issues.
Future TAC tools may support trusted contributors, review workflows, and structured update submissions.
TranspoFairfax may evolve from a static website into a searchable database, GIS-enabled map system, AI-assisted transportation assistant, and multi-jurisdiction knowledge network.
This charter is a working document. As TranspoFairfax grows, the charter may be revised to reflect new tools, governance practices, contributor roles, and broader community needs.
