A long-term community vision for understanding, organizing, and improving transportation across Mount Vernon, Route 1, Fort Belvoir, Lorton, Laurel Hill, Newington, Springfield / Franconia, Mason Neck, and surrounding communities.
Transportation shapes how South Fairfax residents reach work, school, parks, transit, medical services, shopping, civic life, and one another. It affects safety, mobility, economic opportunity, redevelopment, quality of life, and community connection.
TranspoFairfax exists to make that transportation system easier to understand.
South Fairfax includes major regional corridors, established neighborhoods, growing activity centers, military and employment destinations, rail infrastructure, transit investments, and important pedestrian and bicycle needs.
The Transportation Advisory Collaboration Initiative is the long-term vision behind TranspoFairfax. TAC is about preserving transportation knowledge, connecting related projects, explaining agency roles, tracking funding and status, and helping residents understand how transportation decisions shape South Fairfax over time.
The current website is the foundation. The future goal is a searchable transportation knowledge base, archive, and collaboration platform.
The vision is not simply to list transportation projects. The vision is to create a durable, understandable, and useful public knowledge system that helps South Fairfax residents, civic groups, planners, agencies, businesses, and public officials work from shared information.
