Preserving project history, public presentations, agency updates, meeting notes, funding decisions, and community observations for future reference.
Transportation projects often take years or decades. During that time, important information can become scattered across agency websites, meeting slides, emails, PDFs, public hearings, committee notes, and individual memories.
The Transportation Archive is intended to preserve that history so residents, civic groups, planners, public officials, and future community leaders can understand how projects evolved and why decisions were made.
When staff changes, websites are redesigned, committees rotate membership, or projects move between phases, valuable context can be lost. TranspoFairfax seeks to create a durable public record that connects project summaries with supporting documents, timelines, community observations, and agency updates.

The archive is also a bridge toward the long-term TAC database vision. Over time, archived materials can become structured project records with fields such as community, corridor, agency, funding source, status, timeline, documents, and related projects.
The Transportation Archive supports the Transportation Advisory Collaboration Initiative by helping communities preserve knowledge, improve transparency, and create a shared reference point for transportation discussions.
The goal is not only to track what is happening now, but also to preserve how transportation decisions were made over time.
