How the transportation knowledge platform is organized
TranspoFairfax is organized as a connected transportation knowledge platform, not simply a collection of pages. This architecture explains how the major sections work together.
TranspoFairfax helps residents understand transportation by organizing information into five major systems: Learn, Discover, Participate, Understand, and Build.
Each system serves a different purpose, but all are connected through the Transportation Explorer, Learning Center, Master Navigation, and related links across the site.
The Learn section helps residents build confidence before diving into projects, agencies, or technical details.
The Discover section helps users find information by project, community, corridor, issue, agency, or search path.
The Participate section helps residents understand who to contact, how to follow projects, and how to engage constructively.
The Understand section provides deeper context: issues, dashboards, research, resources, maps, archives, and supporting documents.
The Build section contains governance, roadmap, playbooks, contributor tools, and future-facing platform materials.

A resident may begin by learning basic transportation terms, then discover a project, identify the responsible agency, review related issues, and participate more confidently.
Transportation information is often scattered across agencies, studies, documents, meeting notes, and project pages. TranspoFairfax organizes those pieces into a clear structure so residents can move from confusion to understanding.
This architecture also serves as a working model for CivicWorks-style community knowledge platforms.
