Purpose

The Future Technology Layer connects the next generation of TranspoFairfax capabilities: structured data, search, GIS mapping, APIs, analytics, AI assistance, voice responses, and eventual multi-jurisdiction expansion.

Static Knowledge Base: Build clear pages and consistent content.
Structured Data: Define fields for projects, documents, meetings, and issues.
Search: Help residents find information by project, place, agency, or status.
Database: Store records in a reusable, searchable system.
GIS: Connect transportation records to maps and geography.
API: Allow data to support dashboards, maps, search, and partner tools.
AI Assistant: Answer plain-language questions using structured records.
Voice Access: Provide spoken summaries and accessible project answers.
National Network: Adapt the model for other jurisdictions.

Why This Matters

Transportation information is often difficult to find because it is scattered across agencies, documents, meeting records, maps, and project pages. The Future Technology Layer imagines a system where residents can search, ask, map, compare, and understand transportation projects more easily.
